On February 3, 2004, the Green Mountain Club acquired the Wheeler Pond Camps in Barton from the Appalacian Mountain Club. Located near Willoughby State Forest, the Wheeler Pond Camps are maintained by the NEK Section and offer exceptional access to over 20 miles of hiking trails.

This is a moderate, steady climb to the fire tower and return.

Beautiful views of the Champion Lands and beyond as well as the Northern Whites.

Meet in Island Pond at 8;30 AM to car pool to the trail head.
